operationRiceBowl

When: February 17th (Ash Wednesday) - April 4th (Easter Sunday)

You are invited to participate in Catholic Relief Service's Operation Rice Bowl! This program calls us to pray with our families and faith communities during this Lenten season, fast in solidarity with those who hunger, learn about our global community and the challenges of poverty overseas, and give sacrificial contributions to those in need.

Through these practices we can truly enter into this Lenten period of repentance and conversion and are able to connect with the poverty that some of our brothers and sisters in Christ experience every day.

Your participation in Operation Rice Bowl ensures that Catholic Relief services can continue to provide assistance to those in need in more than 100 countries. 75% of your gifts go to CRS to help farmers in Bolivia recieve training to improve crop yields, children in Afghanistan gain more opportunities for quality education, communities in Ethiopia access reliable water sources even during times of drought, and fund many other vital projects. 25% of your gifts remain in your diocese to support local hunger and poverty alleviation efforts.

You can pick up a Rice Bowl at any CCM event. We will be collecting money throughout the entire Lenten season, so bring it to any CCM mass or event!

projectHands&Feet

Christ calls us to be His hands and feet, to feed the hungy, give drink to the thirsty, welcome strangers, and clothe the naked.  The Orlando metropolitan area has one of the highest rates of homelessness in the nation.  You can help us serve the homeless in two of the following ways in this ongoing project:

  1. Serve: After Mass & Meal every Tuesday we box up whatever food is leftover and give to the homeless in the Orlando area. A few people (one who may be willing to drive) are needed each week to take the food to the homeless. Simply find Liz or Nick and ask to help.
  2. Donate: We are always collecting donations such as blankets, hats, gloves, socks, toothbrushes, soap, to hand out.

Then the righteous will answer him and say, "Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? When did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? When did we see you ill or in prison, and visit you?" And the king will say to them in reply, "Amen I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me."  -Matthew 25:40
